Steve Counsel.
Singer, Songwriter, Guitarist, Blues Harp Player, Worship Leader was born and raised in London, England, where he recently relocted back to with his wife Shannon after living for many years in Los Angeles CA. His songs are ignited with gritty guitar and inspired lyrics, the mix of rock, blues, country and gospel create a musical landscape that takes the listener on a spiritual journey, ultimately leading them into an intimate place of worship and celebration in an unpretentious and fresh way.
Steve was "radically saved" in 1997 after spending years of seeking for spiritual answers in "new age" belief systems. His encounter with the "Living God" was so profound that it left him in no doubt he had finally found what he was looking for. This event sparked a deep driving hunger to know more about the radical, tangible, love that is the experience of a close relationship with Jesus Christ, it has become the driving force in his life today. He became a Worship Leader at Malibu Vineyard for several years and has led various congregations in worship since.
In 2005 he released the critically acclaimed CD "Broken Bones Rejoice", he is currently in the studio recording a follow up album . Steve can also be seen playing in clubs and bars with his electric jam band "Salt".
Steve BC (Before Christ) was no stranger to the music scene, in the 80's his UK band Miles Over Matter (WEA records UK) was described by New Musical Express (NME) editor Steve Sutherland as "the most exciting live band since the Sex Pistols". He also toured extensively as a "gun for hire", to enthusiastic audiences across all of Europe. Counsel went to the United States as a member of The London Cowboys (MCA records), He fronted LA's infamous retro garage band The Homewreckers, which much like their role model The Yardbirds featured some of the best guitarist around, Craig Ross (Lenny Kravitz Band) and Mark Ford (The Black Crows) and Eddy Munoz (Plimsouls) were regular Homewreckers. The Homewreckers critically acclaimed CD "Out Of The Shadow's," produced by British blues boom legend Kim Simmonds of Savoy Brown, was released on New York indie Viceroy Records. Steve also played sessions for LA Guns' and The Quireboys. He worked with Shane McGowen of the Pogues on British TV and is featured on various movie and TV sound tracks.
